Michael Robinson

Clients notice Michael Robinson’s unique approach to his estate planning practice the minute they walk through his office doors. Mike has established a law practice that provides clients with a warm, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere staffed by professionals who believe in providing highly individualized attention.

That’s especially important in Mike’s practice, because estate planning is an often personal process reflecting the most cherished hopes and dreams of his clients.

“The estate planning we do for our clients,” Mike explains, “often represents the culmination of their life’s work. That’s why we take a personal interest in helping them complete estate plans that suit their needs and that address the unique circumstances of their families. That includes using our experience and expertise to align clients’ financial planning with their estate planning.”

A great deal of Mike’s work with clients involves planning to protect their hard-earned assets from the ravages of long term care expense. With nursing home costs typically running $20,000 per month or more, that has become especially important for families. “It’s sad to see someone lose their life’s savings and home when they could have been protected with proper planning. We spend considerable time educating our clients, and the community in general, on planning options that can preserve the financial security of their spouse and children.”

There’s one last difference clients often remark upon in Mike’s estate planning practice. “Because we concentrate on estate planning exclusively, we have the focus to bring state-of-the-art, cutting-edge estate planning techniques and strategies to a broad range of clients, no matter how diverse.”

Mike regularly conducts workshops on estate planning topics. Mike has also been a guest speaker on the subject of estate planning before a variety of professional organizations, and for several years shared his estate planning knowledge as co-host of Seniors Rock Radio show.

Experience

Michael Robinson opened his law practice in 1986. In addition to his active law practice, he has maintained an impressive schedule of activities in civic, legal and professional organizations. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and is a charter member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, where he served on the Board of Governors for seven years. Mike also is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association and the Estate Planning Council of Rochester. In 1996, he was appointed to the New York Bar Association’s Special Committee to Review the Code of Professional Responsibility.

During his two terms on the Ontario County Board of Supervisors, Mike held several leadership positions. Mike continues to mentor attorneys throughout the United States in the areas of practice management, estate planning, and elder law.

Education

Michael Robinson obtained his Juris Doctor in 1985 from the Vermont Law School, where he was selected for the Law Review and taught legal research and writing courses to first-year students. He obtained his undergraduate degree in English from Hamilton College, where he translated Beowulf and Anglo-Saxon elegiac poems as an independent study project.

Personal

Mike loves to be active outdoors, whether golfing, hiking, or bicycling. He also is a fan of live music and supporting the many local music venues in the Rochester and Finger Lakes area. Mike and his wife, Kelly, have three children and make their home in Pittsford, New York.
