Elderly Care Provider Receives Grant

December 26, 2018Elder Law

The Law Office of Michael Robinson, P.C. provides help to seniors who need assistance from an elder law attorney in finding the right nursing home care facility. Many seniors end up needing help and support from elder care professionals as they age. It is imperative to find the right carers who can provide compassionate assistance and who offer the services necessary to enhance a senior’s quality of life. elder law attorney

There are some caregivers who are far superior to other healthcare providers serving senior citizens, so doing the right research and making sure you have a way to pay for care can be vital. The Law Office of Michael Robinson, P.C. can assist with the creation of a comprehensive nursing home plan that also incorporates a Medicaid plan to ensure that you are able to find high quality care and pay for that care.

Researching facilities is important, especially if you have a condition like dementia that requires specialized services. There are some great caregivers in the Rochester area that aim to help seniors with memory issues, and Rochester Business Journal just reported on one such care provider that received a $151,000 grant.

Rochester Elder Care Provider Receives a $150,000 Grant

According to Rochester Business Journal, Rochester Presbyterian Home has received a $151,000 grant to provide training to staff members. Rochester Presbyterian Home actually operates three different locations, including in the 19th Ward, in Perinton, and in Chili. The care provider received the large grant through a community development nonprofit which is called the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation.

The grant was awarded to the care facility because the facility has taken a ground-breaking, innovative approach to helping seniors who have Alzheimer’s disease and other disorders that affect their memory. The innovative approach is called the Eden Alternative and the goal of the approach is to try to reduce the loneliness and the feeling of helplessness experienced by many seniors suffering from memory loss.

The Eden Alternative allows seniors in care facilities to have animal companions. Staff members provide close personal attention to the seniors, and seniors with memory issues are provided with a stimulating array of different activities that they are able to take part in.

Providing the focused attention to seniors that makes up a key part of the Eden Alternative can be a challenge, and the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation is providing a grant in recognition of the challenges of caregiving so more staff members can be trained in providing the services that seniors with memory issues need. The grant money will hopefully help to further the innovative care approach taken by Rochester Presbyterian Home so seniors can experience better outcomes and maintain stronger relationships with staff members, other resients, and family members.

The president of Rochester presbyterian home commented in response to the grant that increased training and specialized treatment is vital to the facility’s work so the generous financial gift will make a big difference in helping to improve quality of life as Rochester Presbyterian expands the service offerings provided to senior residents with memory issues.

After completing the training programs that are funded by the grant, the staff members of Rochester Presbyterian homes are intending to work with other care facilities in the region with the goal of showing how the Eden Alternative techniques can be applied. The hope is that one day the Eden Alternative will be the standard treatment approach throughout Western New York for patients suffering from dementia.
