Estate and Trust Administration Paralegal

About Us and the Position

Are you one of those rare, talented persons who is detail-oriented and enjoys working with people? If so, this may be your career opportunity! We’re the Law Office of Michael Robinson, P.C., a leading expert in estate planning and elder law in Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes, and we’re adding to our team of dedicated, client-focused professionals to work in our Pittsford office. We treat our clients like family, and our business systems are specifically engineered to cultivate that type of rapport and relationship. As a close-knit team, we support each other in our respective roles to deliver a transformational experience to each of our clients and their families. Simply stated, we are the best.

We’re currently seeking an experienced Estate and Trust Administration Paralegal. Paralegal certification is not required, experience is. It is vital that this person be warm, friendly, energetic, poised and team-oriented. In this position, you will be assisting our attorneys primarily in the probate and administration of decedents’ estates, including administration of trusts. You will be preparing documents and filing documents with Surrogate’s Court. You will be meeting with clients both in person and over the telephone, and you will be dealing with courts and various financial institutions on our clients’ behalf. Some firm events are held during the evening hours and on the weekends, such as educational programs and client appreciation events. If you do not enjoy being passionately committed to your job and busy all day with a wide variety of activities, then this position is not for you. We encourage personal and professional growth, and you will have opportunity for both at our firm. Excellent word processing, spelling, grammar and spreadsheet skills required.

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • First and foremost, must be a fun-loving, cheerful, energetic people person, with strong in-person, phone, and written interpersonal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.
  • Must be passionate about helping our clients and their families; take pride and joy in providing the highest-quality services possible; and enjoy creating a very welcoming and warm environment.
  • Strong background in customer service preferred. Our clients will love you — and probably keep you on the phone too long — because of your patience, understanding, and consideration for our clients. In fact, your ability to interact with people of all ages and professional backgrounds make you a natural for this opportunity.
  • Have a strong professional work ethic.
  • Minimum of 2 years working as an estate administration paralegal
  • Confident and always have a polished, professional demeanor and appearance, including how you speak and how you act.
  • Always wear a smile, are friendly, cordial, gracious, polite, patient, and considerate.
  • Committed to operating in a team environment with a certain amount of autonomy and self-management.
  • Highly attentive to detail (to a fault, but not paralysis), organized, dependable, and consistent.
  • Able to set schedules and meet deadlines. You make a great contribution to our firm because of your commitment to our team.
  • Energy and a great attitude are very important.
  • Able to learn, accurately follow, and manage workflow systems.
  • Very computer literate and proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook, and comfortable learning and mastering new database systems/programs.
  • Comfortable and trustworthy in working with confidential information.
  • There will be study and training to prepare you for the position, and professional coaching will never end.

What We Have to Offer…

  • Advancement and growth opportunities
  • Supportive and fun team environment
  • Opportunity to help people create a lasting legacy
  • 1×1 mentoring from an experienced estate planning attorney
  • 15 Paid time off days
  • 8 Holidays
  • Fully paid medical insurance with vision coverage
  • Work/Life balance
